Biography
Alessandro Rota was born in Milan, Italy, and began playing the guitar at the age of 13.
Alessandro gained a Bachelors Degree in Musicology from the University of Cremona (Pavia) with his dissertation entitled “The Concept of genius in popular music”.
He then went on to complete a Masters in Jazz Guitar at the Conservatory “A. Vivaldi” of Alessandria in Italy. Alessandro also attended the prestigious Siena Jazz International Summer Workshops where he gained a Diploma.
Alessandro was the winner of a scholarship offered by Conservatory “A. Vivaldi” which allowed him to spend three weeks in Athens (Georgia – USA) studying jazz at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music.
Alessandro is an experienced session guitarist and an experienced guitar teacher.
He has performed with many rock and jazz bands all over Italy and abroad (France, Spain, Greece, Tunisia, USA) in some of the best music venues including Ariston Theater (Sanremo), Expo Milan and Niagara Falls Theater (Canada).
He has been teaching classical and electric guitar both privately and in schools for the past six years to students of different ages and abilities from 4 years old.
Alessandro has recently relocated in London to join the vibrant music scene of this city. At the moment he’s working for Scales Music (http://www.scalesmusic.co.uk), a well established Private Music School which provides individual tuition in Piano, Voice, Classical Guitar, Ukulele, Recorder and Theory for children and adults of all ages and levels in Central, West and South London.
His lessons cover different genres of music (classical, rock, jazz, blues, pop) and guitar styles in a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere.
Alessandro aims to convey to his students his passion for music and to encourage them to become the best guitarists they can be and achieve excellent results.
